Cecil Wooden known as "Po'Shines"

Cecil Wooden, known as "Po'Shines," was a gentleman who shined shoes for the Los Angeles Police Department. Occasionally, he would enjoy a few too many drinks, prompting his friend, Mayor Tom Bradley, to affectionately call him by his nickname. Out of concern for Cecil, the Mayor would often offer him a ride home.

Years later, Cecil visited Portland to see his son, Pastor De’Onn Wooden, and his grandchildren. During this visit, he sat down with our Senior Pastor, E.D.Mondaine, from Celebration Tabernacle Church. Cecil expressed his desire to plant a seed for a restaurant that would contribute to the community, specifically one that served catfish. He noted that every time he traveled from Portland to Los Angeles, he could never find good catfish. Catfish remains one of the top sellers at the restaurant.
